The Langheim Concrete Story: Four Generations of Excellence
Langheim Concrete’s story began over 50 years ago with a man and a vision. My grandfather, Ernest “Ernie” Langheim, laid the groundwork for our family business in 1970 when he and my father, William “Big Bill” Langheim, built a ready-mix concrete plant in Pawnee, Illinois. With little more than determination, a shovel, and a wheelbarrow, Ernie saw the potential for concrete to transform communities, creating strong, lasting foundations for homes and businesses alike. His reputation for honesty, hard work, and unmatched craftsmanship became the bedrock of what we stand for today.
In 1975, my father, Bill, and my mother, Kathy, took over operations, growing Langheim Concrete from a small local outfit to a respected name in the industry. They poured concrete for everything from gymnasium floors to major infrastructure projects like Interstate 55 and the Civic Center, working long days and nights to ensure every job was done right. Even during tough economic times in the 1980s, Bill kept the business moving forward, taking on any job necessary to support our family and the community. By the 1990s, Langheim Concrete had become a leader in foundation walls, investing in specialized wall forms to expand our expertise.
In 2007, I stepped in to carry on our family’s tradition. Under my leadership, we’ve continued to grow, expanding our services to include light commercial projects, steel and pole buildings, and high-quality flatwork. Today, we proudly serve communities throughout Central Illinois—including Springfield, Jacksonville, Litchfield, Lincoln, Chatham, Rochester, and beyond—while also expanding into Southwest Florida.
At Langheim Concrete, we’re not just pouring concrete; we’re building on a heritage of trust, craftsmanship, and community. Our tagline, “Langheim Concrete is good concrete for your every need!” reflects the pride and confidence we bring to every project. Whether it’s a driveway, a patio, or a large-scale commercial job, we remain committed to the values Ernie instilled in us decades ago—hard work, integrity, and quality that stands the test of time.
This is more than a business for us; it’s a family legacy, and we’re proud to share it with you.
